2018 Youth Day

8th October

Let me begin with this statement—I am old! I know that seems like a strange way to start an article about Youth Day service at General Conference, but I am. I guess I have to start with that because my next line starts with “Back in my day….” Usually, when a sentence is started in such a way, it can’t be good. The speaker is usually about to go on…and on…and on…about how “their day” was SO much better. I assure you, that is not the case here.

This “old person” is impressed by what I witnessed at GC 2018 among our youth. “Back in my day” General Conference seemed like mainly a social event (to me and, from what I remember, to MANY, MANY others). Embarrassingly, I admit I really can’t remember actually going to church that much. Sure … Read More »

2017 Youth Day

3rd October

The Youth Day service is consistently one of the best services of the week at General Conference, and this year was no exception in Kansas City, Missouri! The service was filled with goodbyes, introductions, congratulations, worship, and preaching.

Things kicked off with a countdown video highlighting the awesome time we had at NAYC17, which set a great atmosphere of anticipation. As the video ended, the music began. Throughout the service, anointed worship was led by Barron and Rayna Longstreth of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As to be expected at the Youth Day service, the platform design was on point with elements that became an integral part of what was to come throughout the service. Eight large columns collectively displayed the familiar General Youth Division logo. Those columns would be turned to reveal the new logo and name—UPCI Youth Ministries. The simple, yet bold … Read More »

$4,394,006.04.

Over one million dollars to Global Missions.

Thousands of students, young adults, pastors , ministers, and saints of God worshiping in the Music City Center on Friday.

It was a record year and a banner day for the General Youth Division (GYD). Every Friday of General Conference, the GYD hosts Youth Day to minister to Apostolic students and connect with Apostolic pastors. This year’s Youth Day was a powerful service from the countdown to the altar call.

Ashley Leppo and her team led us in worship. And the first worship set led us to the good news where our Sheaves for Christ dollars were allocated. All the car washes, bake sales, bike tours, walk-a-thons, spaghetti dinners were worth it as Sheaves for Christ was pledged to the following ministries:

Global Missions $1,107,291.58
North American Missions $387,000.00
Tupelo Children’s Mansion $100,000.00
Bible and Christian College scholarships $38,000.00

Our General Youth President, Michael Ensey, opened the Youth Day service announcing a monumental offering total—the fourth highest in Sheaves for Christ history—of $3,892,876.22. These funds go to support missionaries, Tupelo Children’s Mansion, Lighthouse Ranch for Boys, Bible college scholarships, and many other organizations and causes.

Following the announcements, there was an awards ceremony where Luke Levine was declared the 2014 Youth President of the Year. Then the beautiful worship led by Rema Duncan and his team prepared our hearts for the Word of God. Anthony Bailey preached a powerful, direct message from II Samuel 21 entitled “Hold the Torch, Pass the Sword.” If we are going to be willing to fight for our lives, it is essential that we fight for our souls. We must prepare to fight the good fight of faith because there is a cause, and it … Read More »

11th October

Here we are, on the last day of General Conference 2013. The day began with more seminars tailored to the various needs and callings found within the church body. Some seminars included a split session for women called Ladies in Action. This was a session of seasoned women of the ministry offering their mentorship and wisdom for younger women in ministry. On the other hand, but in the same Spirit, Pastor Anthony Mangun spoke to the gentlemen of the UPCI in the Apostolic Man service.

Following the seminars, everyone gathered into The auditorium for Youth Day. It began with the sound of thousands of young people and adults, creating a sound like the abundance of thunder and rain. The former youth president, Shay Mann, announced the incredible Sheaves for Christ offering total, which was over a half a million-dollar increase from … Read More »
