Apostolic Music Review: A Sound for God’s House

Album: A Sound for God’s House
Artist: Mark Yandris

The first song, Arise, starts the album off with a high energy call to praise. This one will make you want to get up and shout! For the bass players out there, you’ll love the bridge.

I can already hear He’s An Awesome God being sung as a chorus by churches everywhere. Its another lively declaration of the power of God.

The next song begins with incredible instrumentation, sure to make you say “Wow!” Mark reminds us there is power, freedom, joy, and victory when we Praise Him In The Dance.

Thankful For The Blood slows things down and is a beautiful reminder of how Jesus gave His life for us. He “took the pain, all my shame; now I’m free.” This song really connected with me.

I Am Triumph is musically done in … Read More »

Apostolic Music Review: Glad

Album: Glad
Artist: Louisiana All-State Youth Choir

The album begins with an overture: a complex and brilliant preview of this album. It runs right into the first song, Believe. Believe encourages us that there are great things in store in our lives if we’ll choose to do as the title says.

The next track, When I Think About You, features a very cool pop guitar riff that drives the message. The song takes a look back at where we were before Jesus and praises Him for taking us far away from our past.

Seek First is derived from the Bible passage in Matthew 6:33. Seek First is a ballad that picks up tempo in the bridge. This is a song I’d have playing during prayer.

So Glad is a song thanking God for His saving power. My favorite line is, “I would … Read More »

Apostolic Music Review: From the Depths

Album: From the Depths
Artist: The Branches

The Branches paint beautiful word pictures that make this album very cool and atypical. It starts off with Sounds of the Resistance, an instrumental that sounds like an epic modern war song.

It perfectly sets up the next song, The Resistance. This is the first song I’d ever heard from the The Branches. It’s an extremely empowering song that makes something rise up in you. I love how the lead singer sings, “Ask yourself–what am I fighting for?”

Beyond the Veil kicks off with a soothing rhythmic guitar and vertical praise thanking God for His grace. This song speaks about trusting Jesus for freedom and about the untold mysteries of God we discover beyond the veil.

Chariot is this band’s very cool take on the old song, “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.” You’ll be singing the chorus, … Read More »
