“Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). This article is about the fundamental foundation of our relationship with God—holiness. If we look at holiness as a set of rules, a list of things we should do and things we should not do, then we have misunderstood the whole concept of holiness. Holiness is designed to be a blessing to God’s people and is the result of a love relationship with God.

The world would like the church to compromise God’s Word. There are some churches that would suggest we compromise a little bit. Some say we should not be so different from the world. There I was, swaddled in a fluffy blanket and nestled tightly between a few throw pillows that seemed to be giving me a group hug. To say I was comfortable would be quite the understatement. As I formed my Sarah-shaped crater in the couch, I lazily scrolled through my Pinterest feed. That’s when something very small and seemingly insignificant shook me out of my cozy comfort zone. As I walk the halls of Lockport High School, I see many different faces, each representing a unique personality inside. I am one of those students. I hold a story no one can see on the outside. I am the child who was raised in a fatherless home. I didn’t have a daddy to tuck me into bed at night or to take me for ice cream instead of a nap.
