20th January

Our church is located in Terre Haute, Indiana. However, we have a unique makeup of many different cities and communities we pull from who attend on a regular basis. Currently, our youth group is made up of nine high schools, eight middle schools, two private schools, and two home school co-op groups. What a mission field!

Before Project 7 was launched in 2013, we felt a burden to minister in our schools. One of our youth staffers and I began to teach Bible studies at one of our middle schools and one of our high schools in Terre Haute. It was a commitment to take time during our jobs and other obligations, but God was blessing our efforts. We have seen tremendous results!

Project 7 was presented at NAYC 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky as a student-led Bible club. There were … Read More »

P7 for a Better 2017

20th January

As a new year begins, resolutions are started by both young and old. Each New Year presents an opportunity to “start over” in some ways. For whatever reason, January 1st sparks the feeling of desire to commit to something or stop doing something. Perhaps that consists of re-committing to an opportunity you had last January. Weight loss, finances, relationships, and overall health are some of the most popular resolutions.

As Apostolics, we have the opportunity to also commit (or re-commit) to being a better follower of Christ. Instead of trying to “fix everything” by a basic resolution, it’s more practical to evaluate needed areas of improvement in your life and commit to basic principles. Paul discussed with the Galatians the importance of understanding that we “reap what we sow.” Anyone can pretty much understand this concept. If we make bad decisions, … Read More »

Think of all the projects a student works on in high school and middle school: science projects, art portfolios, school musicals, homecoming floats, and history papers, to name a few. But in the seven years between sixth and twelfth grade, an Apostolic student has the opportunity to undertake one of the greatest projects— evangelizing their school with the gospel of Christ.

Project 7 (P7) is a free resource for students to utilize for the purpose of starting Bible clubs on their high school and middle school campuses. P7 clubs are student-led and student-driven opportunities for students to participate in a spiritually inspired, relationship-oriented, community-serving project in their school. All across the country, students are taking Jesus to their mission field by starting Project 7 clubs. The P7 fire is sweeping across our movement at an unprecedented rate. The mission of Project … Read More »

Project 7 in Groveport, Ohio

7th February

To me, the 2013 youth congress will go down as one of, if not the, best youth congresses of all time. The preaching was anointed, the music was exceptional, and the classes were on point and relevant. I have no doubt that 2015 will be just as good since we have three of our very own helping to lead the charge.

There was another feature of youth congress two years ago that changed the culture of UTurn Student Ministries here in Groveport, Ohio. That was the launch of P7 Bible studies. Haley Robinson is one of our young ladies entering her senior year of high school. She decided to commit to starting a Bible study in her school. Haley was a senior at Canal Winchester High School and approached me after youth congress to ask if I would help. Of … Read More »

Ready, Set, Reach!

26th August

Summer has come and gone, and once again, another school year has begun. Even though during the summer, you pushed far from your mind the dreaded reality of waking up early, sitting through classes, and maneuvering your way through crowded hallways, it has arrived. The 2013-2014 school year is inescapably upon you.

Although those tests, assignments, and late nights are sure to come, allow me to remind you of an assignment greater than all of these. Matthew 28:19 states, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

The most prominent due date you have is not a brand new one or even one on your latest syllabi. This age-old assignment is still just as vital today as it was when it was first given. You can … Read More »
