2018-2019 Sheaves for Christ Scholarship Recipients

2018-2019 SFC Scholarship Recipients1964 is a pretty significant year. And not just because IBM announced a hip, new mainframe computer system that filled a room or because the Ford Mustang was manufactured for the first time. While these are fairly important milestones in history (especially if you are a car buff or computer nerd), this year holds significance for an entirely different reason. 1964 was the year that, for the first time ever, SFC funds were allocated to the Division of Education for the purpose of granting SFC scholarships to young people of the UPCI. Now, a young person with a calling into ministry could be eligible to receive financial assistance to attend one of our UPCI endorsed Bible colleges or Christian college to prepare their life for ministry.

I recently had the privilege to meet a gentleman who, as a young man in 1965, was awarded the first SFC scholarship given to a Texas Bible College student. SFC made the investment and people are still being blessed by the ministry of Pastor Robert Henson of Flint, Michigan. On a side note, it’s incredible to pause and consider that when we raise funds and give to the cause of SFC, we not only give to the present, but we also give to the future.

Today, UPCI Youth Ministries is still allocating SFC funds to the Office of Education and Endorsement for the purpose of helping young people everywhere fulfill the call of God on their lives. This year alone, a total of twenty scholarships were meted out to students to assist them as they begin or continue their Christian education at a UPCI Bible/Christian college. We congratulate these students as they continue to pursue God’s design for their life.

Perhaps you are a young lady or young man who feels that now is the time to take the next step and prepare for ministry by attending Bible college. Or, you may be a young person who is currently enrolled in Bible college and need assistance with continuing your education. Whatever the case may be for you, I encourage you to apply for a SFC scholarship. Who knows? 2019 may prove to be a significant year for you!
