It’s an iPhone slayer! An iPhone killer! A paradigm shift! Unthinkable! The phone industry will never be the same! Such is the familiar rhetoric of technology blogs every time a new cell phone comes out. We heard it with Motorola’s “Droid”, Google’s “Nexus One”, even Microsoft’s “Windows Phone 7 Series”; and now we’re hearing about HTC’s new “Supersonic” phone. The only difference is that this might actually be something to take note of. Ticketed to be Sprint’s first “4G” phone, the Supersonic is an impressive marriage of solid hardware features and Android’s increasingly stable and eye-catching operating system. The phone literally has functions that no other phone has yet to actually fit into one package. Set to be released this summer, the phone will feature a gorgeous 4.3-inch touch screen display, 802.11b/g WiFi, an 8 megapixel camera, 720p HD camcorder capabilities, and even a HDMI output! Let me say that again. You’ll be able to shoot HD video and then hook it up directly to an HDTV for playback! It’s like having a Flip Camcorder that also just so happens to make phone calls. While the Android operating system has struggled to be coupled with hardware that is actually functional, HTC’s Supersonic is definitely an impressive step in the right direction. If you’re looking into entering the smart phone world anytime in the next couple of months, I would certainly give this phone some serious consideration.

It looks like something you’d see on a spaceship in Star Trek or Star Wars, except for the fact that it has the word “Dell” imprinted on the back of it. Behold; the Dell Adamo XPS laptop. Long known as the company that delivers ho-hum design and modest performance to thousands of US mega-corporations, Dell has finally created a product that both looks stunning and has the horsepower to actually get some work done.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Adamo is its thickness, or lack thereof, actually. Claimed by Dell to be the “thinnest computer in the world,” it comes in an impossibly thin 9.99 millimeters, which, for those keeping track, is almost a full 10 millimeters thinner then the MacBook Air!

The next thing you’ll notice about the Adamo is its strange “uprightness” when it’s fully opened (I’m afraid the best way to figure out what I’m describing is to simply look at the picture). It may look awkward at first, but this design actually offers two benefits: 1) It has a full-size keyboard—this may not seem like a big deal, unless you’ve ever been lucky enough to have used any of Dell’s previous business laptops and their remarkably tiny keys—and 2) It has a stunning 13.4-inch High-Definition Display.

Lastly, for those who care to know, Dell has also managed to cram a 1.4GHz Intel processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB Solid State Drive into the Adamo, meaning it’ll handle Microsoft Office and pretty much anything you can find on the web with little or no effort.

Whether you’re a soon-to-be college student, who is always on-the-go, or a Youth Pastor in need of an ultraportable machine, the Dell Adamo XPS may just be a perfect fit for you. You can see more detailed pictures and purchasing options by visiting Dell’s custom-made website for the Adamo here: http://www.adamobydell.com/xps/us.

Ever felt like taking one thousand plus books with you on a road trip? You haven’t? Weird. Regardless, Barnes and Noble’s new e-book reader, dubbed “Nook”, will let you do just that and is one piece of hardware you’re going to want to keep your eye on this holiday season. While e-book readers are no new invention, (first, there was the Sony E-Reader, then the Amazon Kindle), the Nook takes the market to a whole new level. By fusing breakthrough technology, Barnes and Noble has put together one slick-looking device. The Nook features a six-inch reading display, a three-and-one-half-inch color touchscreen display, a battery that lasts up to ten days, a microSD slot (for holding more books!), WI-FI, and 3G connectivity for wirelessly downloading books, via AT&T’s nationwide network. The best part? It’s only half an inch thick! And unlike the Kindle, Barnes and Noble has wisely put together an impressive lineup of designer cases and portfolios, specially tailored to keep your Nook protected from the elements. Nook officially goes on sale November 30th and can be pre-ordered today for $259.00.

I have to say I pretty much geeked out when I saw this item. The Nintendo Wii has revolutionized the way we know gaming, and it looks like they are planning to do so again. In the next generation of the Wii, slated to come out in 2010, you have a headset accessory that uses brainwaves to control characters with in-ear headphones and a Wiimote with only one button. So just imagine a streamlined Wii remote you can point, press one button, and rest as your brain takes over. This picture is definitely worth a thousand words.

Perpetual Kid is a site that claims to “entertain your inner child”, and they really hit a home run with the iPod Building Block Speakers. These Lego speakers have a connector that is compatible with every iPod, including the iPhone. The speakers evidently run off of the iPod itself, so it doesn’t require any batteries. You can buy the speakers directly from the Perpetual Kid site for $24.99 in yellow, black, red, green, blue, or white. I think my Lego space ship could definitely use an iPod on it. Also, take a look around the site, and you’ll find a lot of innovative products like a cassette tape that is actually a tape dispenser. Enjoy! (www.perpetualkid.com)

Okay. So, we’ve seen dozens of smart phones come and go, but this concept smart phone has one feature that definitely has the potential to become a standard. First of all, The Mooon (Not a spelling error) has a touch screen interface like the iPhone, which is cool, but there are a lot of wannabe iPhones out there. The great feature about the Mooon is that it has a blue tooth headset that can be detached from the phone’s body and then be attached to your ear. That means that the Mooon user would not have to buy a bluetooth earpiece separately, and you don’t have to keep it on your ear or in your pocket when it’s not in use. (www.yankodesign.com)

Asus R700 3D GPS Navigator and Portable Media Player

We all know the GPS technology has been around for quite some time, and quite a few of us have either a phone or navigator with GPS on it. The only problem with traveling now, though, is that you have so many devices to look at. You have your iPod Video, your cell phone, your GPS, your stereo, and some of you may even have a PDA or portable DVD player. Well, Asus has a device that just came out that will compact most of your devices for travel into one. The Asus R700 is a GPS navigator that has 3D maps and real-time traffic updates, but not only does it navigate, you can also play MP3s, videos, and photos on a 1.3 cm thick unit. Of course it has a touch screen, but it uses Bluetooth to verbalize text messages and dial calls. It just hit stores and costs $400.

We are starting to see more and more internet radios out on the market. Well, miRoamer, a popular Internet radio site, and Blaupunkt, a leader in automotive multimedia, has introduced the worldʼs first Internet radio for the car. This is definitely a breakth through in technology. The main question you may ask is “How is a web connection achieved in a car?” No, The Internet Car Radio cannot work on its own, but requires a 3G or GSM phone to be connected via Bluetooth in order to access the Internet. From there, the user is able to access radio stations from miRoamer, which allows the user tens of thousands of music, entertainment, news, and talk stations. This could be the new horizon of car audio!

Some designers at a place called Sequoia Studios have come up with an idea that might change the way we write down ideas, thoughts, and reminders. Although they would prefer it not be called a digital Post-It, you can’t really help but think that’s what it is.

The E-notes use electric paper technology that has been under development for a long time now. These tiny pieces of e-paper are powered by a small solar captor that requires only one minute of light per day to work. One cool thing is that after you write or draw on the E-note you can clear what you wrote when you are finished. You can even change its color. E-notes are in the conception stages, but wouldn’t you like to get your hands on them when they come out?!
