CMI Brown University2 NO VIDEO

Greetings from the deputation route (Vermont, to be more exact)!

I have received personal notes from several of you asking how things are going as I have been neglectful to send sending out monthly newsletters this semester. I am truly sorry that I have not been more diligent in sending updates, but I have simply found that words are inadequate to describe what God is doing at Brown.

Words fail to describe the moments of sitting across the table from a student who has been contemplating suicide, not knowing what to do but to tell them that Jesus loves them and has a plan for their lives and then offer to pray with them. Words cannot express the pain I see in the eyes of students who are struggling with addictions even as they are involved in individual Bible studies, wanting desperately to know there is more to life. And words certainly cannot explain what it’s like to get a phone call in the middle of the night from a student I had only met once at the beginning of the year but who desperately needed someone to be her advocate, friend, and prayer partner after she was sexually assaulted.

This past semester has been about doing whatever it takes to lead people to God. It’s been messy. It’s been real. It’s been a process.

Being a full-time campus missionary means that I get to be there for these students in their lives’ journeys in a way that the CMI student leaders simply cannot because I am in a position that allows me significantly greater access to and influence in the lives of those in the Brown community. This means that the love of Jesus can be made very real to these students, faculty, and staff who have lost all hope. As Christ becomes real to them, they are positioned to have their lives forever changed by the power of His Spirit.

Therefore, I trust that I will be able to share reports of Brunonians being baptized in Jesus’ name and being filled with the Holy Ghost this fall as a result of the seeds that have been planted this year and hold fast to the promise of a great harvest to be seen at Brown. For now, please be patient with me and this ministry as we’re in the process of plowing, planting, watering, and waiting for God to give the increase. Neither your giving nor the time I’ve spent at Brown is in vain. God is doing a work, and although we have yet to see the results we long for, when He’s finished, it’s going to be so much better than anyone could have ever expected!

Please keep me in prayer as I continue to deputize this summer and prepare to begin the fall semester on September 7.
